Education Law

One of the City's Preeminent Education Law Firms

We are a boutique law firm specializing in education law. Our firm's founding partner, George Shebitz, was the Deputy Director of Legal Services for the New York City Board of Education during the Koch Administration. He left public service to create this law firm. Education law was our foundation then, and it remains the cornerstone of our practice today. It defines who we are as a law firm.

We advise our clients on the full gambit of education law issues prevalent in preschool, elementary, secondary and post-secondary education. We serve as general counsel, education counsel, and employment counsel to public and private elementary and secondary schools, and colleges and universities.  We are widely consider to be leaders in the charter school and special education fields.  We represents students and parents in all matters of student rights, including, but not limited to, special education, discipline, First Amendment, and civil rights. We represent education stakeholders on issues before administrative agencies and courts each and every day.

We not only practice education law, we teach it. Our attorneys have taught as adjunct professors and guest lecturers of education law at law schools and graduate schools for education; teach continuing legal education courses to their peers; and conduct seminars and in-service training sessions to clients and their constituents on hot topics in education law.

Our extensive experience and success at counseling public and private schools, students and parents, and education stakeholders of all kinds, litigating education issues, and teaching the topic at law schools, graduate schools for education, and to our peers, has earned us a reputation for being one of New York City's preeminent education law firms.
